Frequently Asked Questions

Quotes and Orders

How long does it take to receive a quotation?

All our quotations are calculated by our label experts specifically for you and your needs. As such, it can typically take a few hours to produce your custom quotation. If you're wondering where your quotation is, simply drop us an email or give us a ring and we'll be sure to help you out.

Can you explain my quotation?

You'll receive your quotation as a PDF via email. This document will give you all the essential information about your labels, such as the material, adhesive, the label cost and any additional charges. Depending on your request, you'll receive information on different price brackets - this is because a lower cost per label can normally be achieved at higher production quantities. Some additional charges may be listed, for example a new cutter (equipment used to cut labels to size). This will only be if we don't have a stock cutter to suit your specific size needs. If you'd like your quotation explaining in full or have any questions about it, our team will be more than happy to help.

What is a Pro-Forma Invoice?

A Pro-Forma Invoice is where you pay for labels before we produce them. It is company policy for all new customers to pay a pro-forma invoice for their first order. Please contact our team directly to discuss your payment options.

Do you offer any trade services?

We are proud to offer a wide variety of trade services which provide hassle free solutions for our trade partners. From quick production time scales to comprehensive proofing and plain cover options, you can count on us to offer an excellent trade label printing service. Click here to read more on our trade label printing page.

Can I specify how my labels will be presented?

We'll always select the cheapest presentation option when providing a quotation, but you can also select from a range of other forms of presentation. See more with our guide to presentation possibilities (PDF).

Artwork

What file format should I send artwork in?

Our artwork team would love to receive vector artwork in a .pdf or .ai format. We can accept some artwork in an image format for Flexographic and Digital orders. If the artwork you provide is poor quality, we may not be able to use it, or your labels could look pixelated or blurry. We're happy to help re-creating some artwork in a suitable format, but please speak to us directly about this. For full information about our artwork requirements and guidelines, please click here.

Can you create my artwork?

We often help out customers by producing basic designs and layouts for labels, which we're happy to do free of charge in most cases. Click here to learn more about what types of artwork we accept, from sketches to diagrams and print ready files (PDF). However, we don't have the capacity to create complex designs from scratch, such as product labels or promotional imagery.

Do you have artwork guideline documents?

Yes, we have a range of guidelines which are designed to help inform anyone no matter their experience with providing artwork. All of our guides are available on our main guidelines page.

When are artwork proofs made for orders?

We always send a PDF artwork proof for your approval prior to the production of labels with any new or amended artwork. If you need any amendments just let us know - we'll keep sending proofs until you approve the design. All our artwork proofs are made by our design team rather than using automated processes, as we beleive it takes a real person to create the best possible outcome. If you'd like a proof of a repeat order just to double check everything, just let our team know. We can also provide proofs for plain labels on request. To learn more about the proofing process, visit our proofing page.

How long does it take to receive a proof?

Our artwork team aim to produce proofs on a same day basis after your order details have been confirmed. If your order has lots of different variations or needs lots of adjustments it may take a bit longer.

Production and Delivery

How long will it take for me to receive my labels?

Once we've received your order and any artwork has been approved, we will typically despatch your order within 5 working days. All orders are despatched with next day delivery as standard.

Do you offer services for trade customers?

We offer a range of features for trade customers, such as plain address labels and advice notes, or can even use your provided materials. Click here to read more on our trade label printing page.

What delivery options are there?

Our standard option for delivery is next day with our carrier DPD Local. You can ask for timed deliveries to arrive before certain points in the day. Customers in and near to Sheffield may qualify for free delivery. You are also welcome to collect your labels from our facility on Magna Way, Rotherham.

Why haven't my labels arrived yet?

If you have any questions regarding the status of your order and delivery, please get in touch and our team will be happy to help. It will help us if you have your purchase order number, or our job reference, to hand.

What steps do you take to help protect the environment?

Crown Labels has an internal environmental policy which outlines key ways in which staff can seek to reduce the envrionmental impact of our operations. We avoid using finite resources wherever possible, and none of our waste goes to landfill. We also use a variety of water based inks rather than other types of inks which are more damaging to the environment. Our carrier, DPD Local, is committed to carbon neutral deliveries through an extensive carbon offsetting program. If you have any further questions, please get in touch.
